Moon Cake for a Change

Not ice cream,
cake, or malasadas.
Moon cake for a change.

Not brownies,
doughuts, or pie.
Moon cake for a change.

Firm and square-shaped,
an intricate design sits on top.
And there’s a yellowy surprise inside!

Take a bite, pasty and thick,
egg yolk in the middle!

Eat it.  Yummm!
Lick your lips.
Reach for another.

Moon Festival is over.
With it, moon cake,
an empty plate is left.

But the festival comes again,
and we know for sure,
it’s moon cake for a change.
