Palolo Gym

Old Palolo gym
is run-down.

A rusty roof
shelters the gym
from rain.

Graffiti’d bleachers
are faded brown
and dust blankets the stands.

Walkways are infested with
black blotches
of chewing gum.

But from the darkness,
the court glows brightly
when the sun shines brilliantly
upon it.

The light makes me forget
I’m inside an
old, run-down gym.
