A Cup Full of Patience
My mom pours the cocoa mix ever so slowly
I scratch an itch
I’ll just have to wait
My mom heats the water ever so slowly
I wiggle a tooth
I’ll just have to wait
My mom pours the water ever so slowly
I twirl my hair
I’ll just have to wait
My mom sets the cup down, “Careful! It’s hot!”
I burn my tongue
I’ll just have to wait
When my cocoa is cool, I lick, sip, and gulp it
And when I am done, I ask my mom
“What’s the secret ingredient?”
My mom answers, “Patience.
