Talking Nature

A boy said to fire, ‘Fire, stop burning our homes.”
And the fires said, “I bring light to people and keep them warm”

A boy said to the rain, “Stop flooding Mililani.”
And the rain said, “It’s my job to bring water to plants.”

A boy said to the air, “Don’t blow too hard.
You’re blowing me away!”
And the air said, “Well, since I’m staying here,
I do good things like keeping you cool.”

A boy said to the sun, ‘Don’t you miss the moon?
You never get to see him.”
And the sun said, “I don’t want to see him.
He’s too dark and scary.”

A boy said to the sand, “What are you made of?
Are you made of bones?”
And the sand said, “I am made of ruby coral,
Pearly shells and jet sea urchins.”

A boy said to the crimson rose, “You look like a gift
given in great love.”
And the rose said, “Thank you.
Give me to your mother on Mother’s Day.”

A boy said to the stars, “You shine so bright.
Will you shine in my bedroom?”
And the stars said, “Thank you very much.  We shine up
The whole world every night.”
