The Eye of Heaven

He rises in the east and greets the day
With fiery horses racing ’cross the sky
As people ’round the world go on their way
They know they’re underneath his watchful eye.
A tiring day it always seems to be
An endless cycle ’round and ’round he goes
And day by day he thinks of wand’ring free
The twilight hours he still yearns to doze.
Although his horses tire eas’ly now,
And he was hired many eons ago
He promised us an everlasting vow
To run the race through rain and sleet or snow.
So in the west he bids us all good nght
And then turns off his golden, glowing light.
